The filter section of a four-piece sampling cassette is removed and placed in a portable FTIR where it is examined and analyzed in one to two minutes, so immediate controls can be implemented if needed. FTIR uses a software program called FAST (Field Analysis of Silica Tool) developed by NIOSH to sort and organize respirable crystalline silica exposure data. The preloaded PVC filter membrane contains no silica, has very low ash properties, and features stainless steel supports for added durability.
